GRAVEL RESIDENCE

Gravel Residence is a fictional space in a fictional world displaying our real Waschbeton series project. The scenery embodies the feeling of an otherworldly home, carefully carved into a mountain. Boulders gently levitate above a terrain where rocky formations emerge from natural pools. The space is thought as the perfect environment to stage the objects of our Waschbeton series in juxtaposition of well known design icons. Immense room sizes and a choice of eclectic materials merge together in a soft brutalist architecture.

Our series is formed by seven different objects. Table and Pin find themselves in a bathroom dominated by endless windows. the aluminium covered floor gives insight into another world of rocky material through a perfectly shaped whole covered by glass. In a scenery which can be identified as a dining room a deliberately misplaced table gives base for the incense smoker. Ball and pendulum complete the arrangement together with artworks of solid aluminum put on the wall. At the end of the corridor stairs lead to the outside world where laws of physics seem to put on pause. A gentle curtain leads to the main room. Huge Bofill inspired windows illuminate the space where Ring, Ball and Bodenvase are carefully arranged amid well known furniture. The object’s used materials are translated to the interior through a pool of gravel and a massive wall cover made out of aluminium. Odd plants in the vases underline the cosmic atmosphere where all this is happening.

We teamed up with Charlotte Taylor (Creative Director & Set Designer) and Hannes Lippert (3D Artist Formundrausch) to create this mesmerizing scenery.
